Legacy system maintenance and support may not always the best value for money, especially if you rarely call on the service.
Typically, to receive a guaranteed service level, you will need to settle a hefty premium.
Some years you may receive a lot of service for this premium, however there will probably be additional calls that will be chargeable for consumables and the like.
Sometimes, like insurance, you can pay a high premium for a service level which might not actually be used. And how can you tell how many system failures, printer problems or deskside issues you may have in a year ? Impossible to predict.
And when the year comes to close, you pay all over again.
